Cedar Magic - For Cleansing and Protection
There’s a cedar tree in the front yard of the house I currently live in. This is what started my relationship with this beautiful tree.
When I’ve worked with cedar:
making smoke wands with naturally shed cedar and gifting it to people
burning cedar in my room to cleanse it
using it as a fire starter or making fires bigger (similar to dry pine cones)
when burning sage stopped working for me
when I needed heavy duty cleansing
tied the cedar branches together and hung it over my windows
when I felt an especially strong psychic attack/invasion of my energetic body
My experienced outcomes:
Excellent way to get inspired to clean a room. Burn cedar in the messy room and felt inspired to clean it up. Then I burned some more cedar after cleaning.
Feeling of something has shifted, especially because cedar feels heavy duty to me with the thick smoke it produces. This has felt more psychological than truly spiritual, but every shift counts in my book.
The act of gathering cedar has had the same effects as gnoming. Because it is an extension of that.
Cedar is very easy to make smoke wands with. A good place for a beginner to make smoke wands.
Cedar hung over my windows feels VERY nurturing and protective
To me cedar carries a lot of fire energy. If I’m working a fire ritual, I’ll likely bring in cedar to feed it.
I love the deep shade of green that cedar brings
Things to keep in mind when I work with cedar:
burning cedar really makes fire alarms go nuts
extremely flammable and hard to put out, so burn cedar with a sizable container handy
try not to inhale the smoke
my strong relationship with cedar could also be attributed to the fact that I live on the same land as the cedar tree does. I also use cedar exclusively from this particular tree. AND I only use the cedar that was naturally shed.
Cedar to me is for protection and cleansing. Not for divination.
Areas I’d still like to explore with cedar:
drinking tea with dehydrated cedar and exploring the results from that
making cedar infused oil and noticing its effects
make offerings to the cedar tree
